Columbia Business Monthly has recognized attorney Will Lewis, a partner with Richardson Thomas, to the magazine’s “Legal Elite of the Midlands” list for 2022.
The annual list honors Midlands lawyers who are considered outstanding in their respective practice areas by their peers. Will Lewis has been named in the area of “Personal Injury – Plaintiff.”
He helps victims of defective products, corporate wrongdoing or negligence, and represents whistleblowers in qui tam actions. He also defends people accused of white-collar crimes.
During his time as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of South Carolina, Will prosecuted white-collar fraud, corruption, healthcare fraud, human trafficking, and violent crimes. He also successfully argued cases on appeal.
Will holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington and Lee University, where he captained the baseball team. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2013. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Costa M. Pleicones of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
He was also named this year to the South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
Columbia Business Monthly has been publishing the Legal Elite feature since 2010. The selection process begins with nominations from more than a thousand active lawyers in the Midlands. While attorneys are allowed to nominate members of their own firm, for each in-firm nomination there must be a corresponding out-of-firm nomination. Attorneys are not allowed to vote for themselves.
Attorney votes then narrow the nominees down to the top 10 in each of the 20 practice areas.
