Brady Thomas and Will Lewis settled a complex FINRA claim against a bank and financial advisor for several million dollars. FINRA is the government-authorized not-for-profit organization that oversees financial advisors and brokers-dealers. Thomas and Lewis also were able to secure seven-figure settlements against other fiduciaries in those business transactions. Our lawyers worked with co-counsel on a contingency-fee basis in the business tort litigation and provided up-front costs.

Terry Richardson and Chris Moore, along with co-counsel, represented the victims of drunk driving against the intoxicated driver and the establishments that over-served him. The crash killed one and injured three others. Along with co-counsel, our team secured a $5.4 million settlement that included one of the bars agreeing to change the way it trains employees on the safe service of alcohol.

Construction worker electrocution

In 2003, a 24-year-old construction worker was standing next to a crane at the Lake Murray dam in South Carolina when the crane made contact with power lines. He was electrocuted, causing the loss of both arms and legs. Richardson Thomas attorneys argued successfully that he could bring a personal-injury lawsuit rather than just a worker’s compensation claim. The case was settled for a confidential amount of money that is thought to be the largest personal injury settlement in South Carolina history.
In two of the largest class-action settlements in South Carolina history, Richardson Thomas attorneys, along with co-counsel, helped secure a combined $666 million in total rebates for electricity customers after SCANA and Santee Cooper walked away from building two new nuclear plants but had continued to charge consumers for costs related to them.
Richardson Thomas lawyers have represented clients in lawsuits against national manufacturers of remote-controlled vehicles, electronic cigarettes and other devices powered by lithium-ion batteries. Many across the country have been injured when such devices have exploded.
A train collision in Graniteville, South Carolina, set off a chain of events that led to the deaths of nine people and injuries to at least 250 others. Richardson Thomas lawyers represented many of those hurt or killed as a result of the collision.
